The NuPrime IDA-16 Integrated Amplifier

A World-First in Digital Integrated Amplifier Design for the Ultimate in High-Resolution Sound

Following in a long tradition of world-renown audio excellence, the NuPrime IDA-16 combines leading-edge audio technology with unprecedented innovation, style, and value. As the world's first fully integrated digital amplifier offering 384K & DSD decoding (2.8MHz, 5.6MHz, 11.2MHz), from its digital or analog inputs to its 200-Watts/Channel speaker outputs it delivers the purest, most natural sound modern audio technology can provide, while also providing the widest support for the latest High-Resolution music formats.

NuPrime ST-10 ™

Reference LE class power amplifier

The ST-10 amplifier is NuPrime's Reference LE power amplifier for listeners who require a reference-class amplifier at a somewhat lesser power rating of 2 x 150W (8 Ohm). NuPrime’s sonic character stands well apart from – and indeed above – the soft, cushy sound we often associate with most tubed amplification and the dry, clinically edgy sound we often associate with solid-state and switching technology. Rarely does an amp achieve an ideal balance of richly textured timbres and harmonics, bottom-end authority, startling dynamics, exquisite low-level detail, and a fully revealed, fully dimensional sound stage against a backdrop of mile-deep silence.

The NuPrime Reference 20 Mono Amplifier

NuPrime Reference 20 came from the evolution of esteemed NuForce's award-winning Reference amps, after NuPrime has acquired the NuForce high end product line. While the Reference 20 retains all of the Reference 18's superior sonic attributes, the amp’s higher 420W @ 4 Ohm output power brings one closer yet to the goal of supreme performance. The Ref 20's low-ESR Cross Matrix Array (CMA) capacitor assembly features high-performance capacitors in a proprietary, non-resonant alignment. Unifying such refined technology with superior power yields truly unsurpassed speed, transparency and resolution, along with genuinely authoritative dynamics. The net response is a natural, non-fatiguing rendition of music that simply flows from a palpably real soundstage.

The NuPrime IDA-8 Integrated Amplifier

*Hi-Res bluetooth dongle for wireless streaming is included.

Ultra Low Noise Class A+D Integrated Amplifier with DAC and Wireless Port

NuPrime's new Class A+D hybrid amplification technologies deliver the substance and warmth of Class A amplification and the efficiency and speed of Class D technology in a milieu of un-measurable noise. The IDA-8's spacious, transparent, dynamic and luxuriously textured soundstage has to be heard to be believed. The NuPrime IDA-8 consists of an ultra-low-noise integrated amplifier and digital-to-analog converter that decodes USB PCM 384 and DSD 256 with the convenience of wireless audio in a small, handsomely designed home stereo component.

NuPrime STA-9 Stereo Amplifier

Class A+D Stereo Amp bridgeable into a 290W mono amp

The NuPrime STA-9, a 2 X 120W Class A+D stereo amp, bridgeable into a 290W mono amp, is designed with enhanced even-order harmonic circuitry that mimics the most attractive features of tubed-amp sound without incurring tubes’ drawbacks and limitations. The STA-9's spacious, transparent, dynamic and luxuriously textured soundstage has to be heard to believe.

The NuPrime MCH-K38 Multi Channel Amplifier

A Reference LE Class Multi-Channel Amplifier

The NuPrime MCH-K38 is a Reference LE class multi-channel amplifier designed for uncompromising home theater and music listening. With its quality parts throughout and an advanced 550kHz switching amplifier operation, the MCH-K38 delivers a full 210 watts into 4 and 8 Ohms per channel. Each pair of output channels can be bridged to double the power to 400W at 4 and 8 Ohms. The NuPrime MCH-K38 comes with 8 sets of RCA and true balanced XLR inputs. A self-resonant design, the amp’s 550 kHz PWM switching frequency constantly adjusts to the input signal, output current demands, and loudspeaker impedance variations. Exemplary speed, accuracy and exquisite dynamics nicely describes NuPrime's signature sound.

The NuPrime Sound

  • Vast soundstage
  • Wide, lightning-fast dynamics
  • Ultra-low distortion and noise
  • Music emerges from a pristine background, with delicate details and nuances intact

We advice customers to make their selection based on sonic preference and usage scenario. In particular, higher price model does not necessary mean that it is better.

Hybrid Class-D Amplifier Design With Different Sonic Characteristics

At NuPrime, we’ve made a huge leap forward in building world-class amps with different characteristics. Going from achieving one near-perfect design to another, but with different sonic characteristics is a daunting challenge. Very often, when one enhances one sonic aspect he loses another. If we’re aiming at a product that sounds like a tube amp, we don't want to sacrifice dynamics and speed, and therein lies a stellar achievement. To help readers understand how we get here, we will like to take you back in history where it all begins.

What is high-end audio?

Robert Harley, Editor-In-Chief of The Absolute Sound, states that “High-End Audio is the quest to re-create in the listener’s home the musical message of the composer or performer with the maximum realism, emotion, and intensity.” Historically, skilled audio professionals have created high-end audio components by carefully crafting circuits and taking great care in parts selection. They achieve great sound through elaborate, time-consuming processes, resulting in expensive and often opulent products.

The NuPrime STA-6 Stereo Amplifier (Commercial)

NuPrime audiophile quality commercial products are typically not sold in retail stores. The commercial product line is not designed for style but performance can be sound quality can be just as good as the home product line.

Class A+D Stereo Amplifier Brigeable into a 160 watt Mono Amplifier

With 2 X 90W Class A+D stereo amp, bridgeable into a 160W mono amp, STA-6 is designed with enhanced even-order harmonic circuitry that produces sonic characteristic similar to NuPrime STA-9, but leaning toward neutral with a slight hint of warmth. The STA-6's spacious, transparent, dynamic and luxuriously textured soundstage has to be heard to believed.

"I have Audience 2+2 in a stereo system in the bedroom, they have been powered by Cary Audio and Parasound multi channels. Due to the weight and only stereo need i sold the Cary and Parasound for the Nuprime ST-10. I was cautious as i have hated my previous experiments with class d amps such as rotel, pioneer and wyred4sound, all cold and lifeless, boring and flat. The ST-10 was a revelation, sweet, very detailed, tight, extended and bouncy, it had life and was a joyful match with the 2+2's, i cannot remember a more enjoyable sound in 30 years, especially for the money, and the mids are incredible. In my main system i needed to replace my hernia weighted Cary 7 channel, so with my positive experience with the ST-10 I plumped for the MCH-K38 at half the weight of the Cary and hoping it would come close to the exceptional ST-10. The MCH-K38 will be used in a 5.1 system driving Audience 4+4's when they arrive from the factory. In 5.1 mode the first 4 channels will be bridged and that is how i compared it to the ST-10, not only did it equal the ST-10 but in bridged mode bettered it. Same family signature but just with a more effortless control, more open, less restrained and detailed, I am extremely surprised and very happy, what a combination made in heaven, the Audience and the Nuprime .... rock on ….", - ZAPHOD2012 (audiocircle.com)

IDA-16 Reviews

Product Of The Year

The Absolute Sound

"...when you consider the NuPrime IDA-16 has an advanced DAC built in, which will play virtually any digital recording available today, it’ s an even better value. Of course, if it didn’ t sound good, it wouldn’ t be a good value, no matter how low the price was, but it sounds excellent...The NuPrime IDA-16 DAC/amplifier along with the KEF LS50 speakers made a system that, if you’ll pardon a tired reviewer cliché, punched far above its weight. So to return to the question left open in the first paragraph: Yes, the NuPrime IDA-16 DAC/amplifier can indeed be called a bargain. Highly recommended...", - Vade Forrester, editor

"...This quietness was a particular advantage when I listened at low volume levels, something I usually find uninvolving. Not through the IDA-16 -- my music was just as captivating as at high volumes. Against the NuPrime’ s jet-black backgrounds, all of the dynamics of my recordings were present at all volume levels, making the IDA-16 one of the few amps I have enjoyed for late-night listening... IDA-16 is an exemplary integrated amp-DAC with rock-solid imaging, transparent sound, and tight control of bass...", - Vince Hanada, editor

OUR TOP PICKS by The Absolute Sound

"...over the years I’ve reviewed and used plenty of digital power amplifiers from Bel Canto, Wyred4Sound, April Music, and others, and I appreciate what a well-designed model can bring to a system. And it happens that the ST-10 is the best digital power amplifier I’ve heard to date...

...Within their product categories the DAC-10H DAC/preamp and ST-10 basic power amplifier are priced at the lower mid-level, yet they both deliver a level of performance that could be considered exemplary regardless of their cost... ", - Steven Stone

"When I’d hooked up the Definitive Technology StudioMonitor 45 speakers to the IDA-8 and begun playing music, I realized that the NuPrime was unlike any other entry-level amplifier I’d ever had in my system. Everything immediately sounded more precise and controlled…

… the little IDA-8 sounded so refined and powerful that I soon decided that, to get a true measure of its sound, I needed to move it into my reference system. In that system I had a variety of high-end but still high-value speakers to use with the NuPrime IDA-8: the KEF R900, Definitive Technology Mythos ST-L, and GoldenEar Technology Triton Five. Even with those floorstanders, the IDA-8 was able to tightly control the low frequencies in Lorde’s bass-laden Pure Heroine (24/48 FLAC, Lava Music/Republic). The IDA-8’s midrange was also something special: exceedingly clean but very full, reproducing voices with clarity and presence while also providing their full weight and body. With the IDA-8, I felt I was hearing everything in Susan Wong’s 511 (24/96 FLAC, Evosound) -- not something that I think I have ever said before about an integrated amp costing under $1000...The NuPrime’s sublime midrange allowed voices to float effortlessly in mid-air…

…It sounds fantastic, has plenty of power to drive any reasonably efficient loudspeaker to room-filling levels, it’s compact, and, best of all, it costs less than $1000…the NuPrime IDA-8 was so good that it seemed almost a shame to extract it from my reference rig and reinstall it in my second system, where it will remain as my new budget reference amplifier. It’s one of the best deals available in audio today…", Roger Kanno (SoundStageExperience.com)

" ..The IDA-8 conveyed the music’s richly woven textures as well as its individual parts. Soundstaging was deeper and wider than I expected for an amp in this price category, with precise instrumental placement. Background noise was also shockingly low; the IDA-8 boasts an impressive 95dB signal-to-noise ratio...

...the IDA-8 is a winner, and a force to be reckoned with in its category (and beyond it)…it brought warmth to its clean and clearly resolved presentation of digital sources to...Though a touch dark in character (à la Class D), it delivers substance and warmth with A well-conceived Class A/Class D hybrid that doesn’t want for power or clarity, the IDA-8 ought to find itself on the audition short list of a wide range of hi-fi hobbyists, from newbies to more experienced audiophiles...",-Julie Mullins (The Absolute Sound)

"…From the very first listen, the IDA-8 elicits a big ‘WOW’. For those that know me you'll appreciate I can be a bit of a cynic and our home system is very much biased toward the analogue. So the initial recommendation of the IDA-8 is not given lightly. It's the immediate impression of enhanced clarity coming out of the little NuPrime that is most striking…",-John Ransley, New Zealand Dealer (Totally Wired)

opinions on the amplification classes!..."- , Philippe Daussin (qobuz.com)
